2013 Rules Meeting

Hamlin Speedway Driving Stars Unite For 2013 Racing Kickoff Meeting
2/17/2013 - By: Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media

After a successful and record breaking 2012 racing season, the premier racing attraction in the Pocono Mountains, the Hamlin Speedway hosted a very successful drivers and owners kickoff meeting on Sunday, February 17th, as a standing room only crowd in excess of three hundred people filed in to the S&S Speedway headquarters for the initial meeting to lay out the plans and changes for what is anticipated to be another banner season for the Denise and Randy Smith promoted 1/5 mile clay oval racing facility.   The 2013 racing season will serve as the eighth consecutive season for the successful promotional team in command of the popular multi-division speedway and all the buzz indicates another roof-rocking season is expected as the racing format of the speedway was laid out and many questions were answered during the more than two hour informative session.

The eight divisions at the speedway will remain intact for the 2013 racing season and Stage One Modified guru "Rapid" Richie Smith laid out additional plans to take his series on the road for selected shows this season that will include three stops at Hamlin as well as six additional speedways along the way.  The Stage One Group also picked up a series sponsor with Brodheadsville Chevrolet coming on board  to lend help with the series.  Most of the changes for the new season are cosmetic as the Smith Family runs a very precise racing program each and every week of the season.  Randy Smith did run through the new schedule for 2013 as some bigger paying races for most divisions are in place and the the first of the big events will kickoff in the first week of May with the 600 Sprints headlining the program with $600.00 on the line to the winner.  The Mid-Atlantic Slingshot Tour will have their traditional stops and the "Spring into Summer" two day spectacular will once again rock the Poconos with a two day show on the dates of June 21st and 22nd.  The month of July is jam packed with excitement as July 6th will find the Hamlin Hundred taking place and another banner field of racers vying for the big $1,500.00 pay day offered up with a special fund raising event tabbed for Marley's Mission located in the local Lake Ariel area. July 13th will find Hamlin hosting the final leg of the Pennsylvania Wingless 600 Speedweek finale and sponsored by Hyper Racing.  Hamlin Speedway will kickoff the first leg of the Northeast Pennsylvania Twin Track Summer Nationals in conjunction with the Penn Can Speedway, who will be finishing up series on the next day July 21st. The Micro Mountain Nationals hit on September 7th in a date that will also see the Stage One Modifieds doing battle in the Roy Smith Memorial event.  The season finale will be September 21st.  In between the fans will get to witness a couple of appearances from the NASCAR Crew Challenge on June 8th and August 3rd and the non-racing girls will get a chance to test their skills with a couple of Powder Puff events scheduled throughout the season.

Promoters Denise and Randy Smith welcomed all racers and will leave the welcome mat out for all racers who have yet to decide on their speedway of choice for the new 2013 season ahead.   With the landscape surrounding various raceways in the Northeast constantly changing, Hamlin Speedway has proven time and time again to promote and present some of the best racing available for small car division racing and each show is professionally produced with a great working staff on board to insure the success and the excitement with each passing week.  Last year the Hamlin driving roster regularly had representation from a six state area and with one of the best purses in the area expect to continue to draw top fields of racers on a weekly basis. The 2012 racing season saw an average of 144 entries per week coming through the gates to test their skills at the racy 1/5 mile speedplant.

The next event for Hamlin Speedway and its driving stars will be the Sixth Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show to be held at the Phillipsburg Mall on Route 22 East from March 10th until March 16th.  Hamlin Speedway announcer Steve Pados, along with his brother Ed, Bobby Stull and Justin Beltrame will once again host the nightly activities for the sixth consecutive season.  As in the past, the representation from the Hamlin Speedway group has always ranked among the best for the show and the Pados Brothers encourage all teams that are set to go to place their racers into the event so the race fans can see the pride and care the racers have for their equipment and their sponsors and assist in bringing out new fans when the racing action gets underway.  Due to the many divisions racing at Hamlin, the Hamlin Speedway Night will see two nights set aside for their driving stars as Wednesday Night, March 13th, will find the open wheel stars at Hamlin sharing the spotlight with New Egypt Speedway on an evening that will be sponsored by Hamlin and S&S Speedways.  March 14th will find the Hamlin Speedway Slingshot and Stage One Modified stars sharing a night with the Accord Speedway and Orange County Fair Speedways and sponsored by Smith Fabrications Fabrications and the Stage One Modifieds. Should a driver have a problem in getting to the Mall on the assigned evening, please come out when you are available and you will be interviewed the evening you are available.
